Ο Ronald “Khalis” Bell, συνιδρυτής του θρυλικού μουσικού συγκροτήματος Kool & the Gang, πέθανε σε ηλικία 68 ετών.

Ο δημοσιογράφος του, Sujata Murthy, επιβεβαίωσε τα νέα σε δήλωση προς το New York Post, αναφέροντας ότι ο Bell πέθανε την Τετάρτη στο σπίτι του στις Παρθένοι Νήσοι των ΗΠΑ με τη σύζυγό του, Tia Sinclair Bell, δίπλα του. Η αιτία θανάτου δεν έχει αποκαλυφθεί.

Ο Bell και ο αδερφός του Robert “Kool” Bell δημιούργησαν μια ορχηστρική ομάδα τζαζ που ονομάζεται Jazziacs στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1960. Η ομάδα θα επεκταθεί σε άλλα είδη τα επόμενα χρόνια, τελικά θα γίνει το συγκρότημα funk / soul Kool & and the Gang. Το ντεμπούτο κυκλοφόρησε το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους με τίτλο το 1970 και θα συνεχίσει να παραδίδει μια σειρά από κλασικά όπως “Cherish”, “Summer Madness”, “Get Down on It”, “Jungle Boogie” και το μεγαλύτερο τους hit, “Celebration ”

Κατά τη διάρκεια του χρόνου του με τον Kool & the Gang, ο Bell έλαβε πολλά βραβεία, συμπεριλαμβανομένων δύο Grammys, το Soul Train Legend Award και επτά American Music Awards. Αυτός και οι συνάδελφοί του εντάχθηκαν επίσης στο Hall of Fame του Νιου Τζέρσεϋ καθώς και στο Hall of Fame του Songwriters.

Ο Μπέλ επέζησε από τη σύζυγό του, 10 παιδιά, εγγόνια, καθώς και από τα αδέρφια του – Ρόμπερτ “Κουλ – Μπέλ, Γουαχίντ Μπαγιάν, και Αμίρ Μπαγιάν – και την αδερφή του, Σαρίφ Μπαϊγιάν.
